Title: Happy Thanksgiving
Happy Thanksgiving from Toddler Bites.
Many families are facing financial hardships this year. Dr. Charles Stanley from the First Baptist Church in Atlanta offers a great devotional that reminds us that thankfulness is not based on emotions or a situation's outcome. God works all things together for our good. Even when it's hard to see His hand, we can trust His heart.

Title: Peanut Butter
I ran across a great tip from BabyCenter.com. In regard to peanut butter, the article states to "be careful not to give your toddler large dollops of peanut butter, which can be difficult to swallow. Instead, spread peanut butter thinly on bread or crackers. You might want to try thinning it with some applesauce before spreading it."
Visit the site and read the entire article at:

Title: Sunshine Wraps
See the link below from babiesonline.com for a toddler treat called Toddler Sunshine Wraps. This recipe uses Sunflower Butter instead of peanut butter. My daughter is allergic to peanuts, so we've found sunflower butter a great alternative. This snack looks yummy and is very healthy!

Title: Toddler Recipe
The weather is getting cooler and unfortunately as we all spend more time indoors, it's much easier to catch a cold or virus. Even as I write this blog entry today, I am so hoarse that I can barely squeak out a greeting when the phone rings. I ran across a really easy toddler recipe from Wholesome Toddler Food for Fast Chicken Soup. You can visit their site and find the recipe at the following page: http://www.wholesometoddlerfood.com/weeklytoddlerrecipes.htm

Title: Small Business Association
The very first step in making the idea of Toddler Bites products a reality was a visit to our Small Business Association Consultant, Mark Lupo. He was instrumental in guiding me from day one. Each time I left his office I had "homework" to do which took me to the next step in the process of turning this idea into a small business. I will forever be grateful for this service and to Mark. Thank you!
I would suggest that anyone who is contemplating turning their own idea into a business contact the Small Business Development Center for their state and find out who the consultant assigned to their area is.

Title: Patience at mealtime is a virtue!
Feeding a toddler can seem like a never ending battle. As the mother of a very picky young eater, I must have gone through every vegetable in Mr. McGregor's garden only to find one or two that my toddler would eat. The site Great Baby Products has some words of wisdom on that subject. They suggest patience as you introduce your toddler to as may new things as you can. You never know when one might be a keeper. The further explain that the "best way for a child to learn behaviors is by watching you." So eat those veggies!

Title: Toddler Mealtimes
Getting a picky toddler to eat can be tricky. Thankfully, the Great Baby Products site has some neat tips for getting those finicky eaters to eat! They suggest that by allowing your toddler to participate in preparing the meal eating becomes more like a "play session." In addition, they recommend letting your child pick out their own plates, sippy cups and bowls featuring their favorite cartoon characters. They conclude that, "even picky eaters will have a hard time turning down food that they help make and that is served on their favorite plates."

Title: Owner's Personal Thoughts and Reflections
I had a shift in my focus today. I am convinced now that the purpose of this business goes beyond selling cutters to customers. After watching the Samaritan's Purse video about the Children's Heart organization, it became clear that Toddler Bites can make a difference beyond the obvious. It can bring awareness to great children's causes. With that in mind, I have a new purpose and zeal today. If you are aware of causes that will help children around the world as well as here at home, please make me aware of them by emailing info@toddlerbitesonline.com. I will post those ideas here as well as on our Facebook and Twitter pages. Thank you so much. Kathy

Title: Great Children's Causes
I just received an email from Samaritan's Purse. It included the trailer for a new television reality show following the lives of three children who are in desperate need of heart operations. The organization is called Children's Heart. The video is so moving as I think you will agree. I've placed a link below. Kathy

Title: From Idea to Invention
I will continue to add to this blog category, so check back often. I plan to share things that we've learned along the way as well as thank people and companies who have aided in this journey. Tonight, I would like to answer one of the questions that I get asked a lot. Who manufactures Toddler Bites for you? The answer is Signet Plastics in Maryville, TN. They make, package, warehouse, and ship our products. This company is a Christian owned company. I have placed their web address below.

Title: Tween Tea Party
When people think of tea parties, they usually think of this party theme being appropriate for very young girls or older, sophisticated women. However, tea parties are the perfect theme for preteen-aged girls. Girls this age can properly learn the tea party etiquette rules in advance and have fun practicing their skills during this event. Tweens, as girls of this age are often referred to, are anxious to become young ladies and will welcome the opportunity to feel all grown up when attending a formal tea party.

Title: VBS cookout
We are having a family fun night at the completion of our VBS week. We will be serving hot dogs. This is a great time to stock up on Hot Dog Cutters for use at church in preparing the hot dogs for the Preschool classes. Have several available so parents can quickly cut their children's hot dogs into safe bites. This is such a busy and fun night, many parents will appreciate this convenience.

Title: VBS Ideas
Our church is holding it's annual VBS (Vacation Bible School) this week. The theme is the "Boomerang Express." Since our VBS was earlier than most, I thought I would jot down a few of the cute decorating ideas I've seen for those of you who will be doing VBS later in the summer. We used palets turned sideways to make a fence that bordered all around the room. We stuck large branches with greenery around in the tops of the palets for an outdoors effect. We placed stuffed koala bears in the greenery. We created boomerangs "flying" overhead by suspending plastic, toy boomerangs from the ceiling at different heights. We placed a large tent and campfire site in the room. Children can sit around the campfire for story time. we used black tape to make a train track on the floor. We also used other train decorations. For our door decorations, we covered the door with blue celophane. We purchased crocodile kick boards from Walmart. They are flat and cost $10. When completed, the door is very cute and gives the effect of crocodiles swimming in water.

Title: Letter From Customer
I received this letter from a customer and wanted to include in on my blog. Toddlers aren't the only ones benefiting from Toddler Bites products. I was thrilled to hear that our products could also be useful to stoke victims and the elderly. ---- After investigating how I could help my mom, (she loved (s) being in the kitchen and cooking; however, has become extremely frustrated with trying to cook and bake), I found out there are so many stroke victims out there that have the same limited use of one hand. There are some products for the disabled on the market, but we still can't seem to find many utensils out there to help her. Your Toddler Bites may just be one of those tools she can use. Title: Hot Dogs and Baked Beans
Memorial Day is coming up and doubtless that will mean lots of cookouts. Grills across America will be fired up and ready to cook countless numbers of burgers and hot dogs. Be prepared for even the youngest cookout guest with the Toddler Bites Hot Dog Cutter. It splits the hot dog lengthwise and then into 1/2 inch pieces. For a really delicious side item, please see the baked beans recipe I just added. It could be a meal all by itself. Also, check out the Corn and Rice casserole. It is SO GOOD! My niece has already requested I bring it to our family's Memorial Day picnic. Have fun and be safe!

Title: Toddler Tea Party
Spring is the perfect time to plan a Toddler Tea Party. Send out invitations in the shape of a tea pot. Invite each guest to come in their favorite princess dress up outfit. Use the Toddler Bites Sandwich Cutter to cut pound cake slices into small bite- sized cake petafores. Put a dollop of frosting on top and add sprinkles. Cut sandwiches into bite-sized finger foods. Most party stores have tea party themed paper plates or just use pretty pink ones. Plastic punch cups make a non-breakable tea cup alternative. However, if you really want to go that extra mile, go to your local flea market and purchase mix matched tea cups for a bargain. The little girls will love drinking from dainty tea cups. Buy dress up gloves for each girl for a sweet and appreciated tea party favor. Dress the table with a beautiful bouquet of Spring flowers in the center.

Title: Hot Dog Choking Risk
With warmer weather approaching, cookouts and the All-American hot dog are becoming ever more popular. Toddler Bites Hot Dog Cutter makes this food item safe for even the youngest cookout guest. Now would be a great time to purchase these great selling items. Unfortunately, as more hot dogs are being consumed this time of year, the number of children who choke from this food increases as well. The American Academy of Pediatrics lists the hot dog as one of the top ten foods that children choke on. According to doctors at the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine, hot dogs are the number one cause of choking in young children.** Most major hot dog brand packaging now includes a choking hazard warning stating that hot dogs can present a choking risk for children under six. One school in Florida even removed hot dogs from their lunch menu after an 11 year old choked to death when a piece lodged in his throat. We hope that by providing parents and caregivers with a tool that makes cutting this high-risk choke food conveniently into small, consistent pieces, that we can help reduce the number of young victims this food item claims each year. *www.aap.org/family/birthto6.htm **http://er.jhsph.edu/ERwork/041599.htm
